Earning Stock at eXp Realty
There are three main programs that allow agents to earn stock with eXp Realty. These three programs break down into five different opportunities for adding EXPI shares to your portfolio.
Sustainable Equity Program
This program is automatic for agents. When they join eXp, they become a part of this program and start earning shares quickly. There are three main ways that they can earn shares through this program.
- Every year, agents earn $200 worth of shares upon closing their first transaction.
- Agents earn $400 worth of shares when they cap at $16,000 each year.
- Agents earn $400 worth of shares when an agent they have sponsored into the brokerage closes their first transaction.
With each of these options, eXp will vest the shares for three years. This ensures that agents maintain their good standing within eXp Realty’s business operations.
ICON Agent Award Program
Glenn Sanford designed the ICON program to encourage agents to meet specific cultural and production goals and thereby earn further stock in the company. There are a few steps to earning the total ICON award of $16,000 in stock shares.
- Meet the production goals by capping and paying an additional $5,000 in transaction fees into the company. You can also meet this goal if you have closed at least 10 transactions with an annual gross income of $500,000+ and have paid the ICON qualifying fee equal to $5,000 less capped transaction fees paid.
- Earn an immediate $8,000 in stock shares vested for three years.
- Meet the cultural goals. Do this by becoming a mentor, an ICON instructor, a panelist or moderator at ICON events, or becoming an ICON vetting member. You must complete one of these services within a year of earning your award.
- Earn $4,000 more in stock shares vested for two years.
- Attend eXp events. You can attend either one of or both EXPCON and eXp Shareholder Summit in the year after you receive the ICON award.
- Earn $2,000 per event for a total of $4,000 in stock shares with no vesting period.
Agent Equity Program
The Agent Equity Program is something you can enroll in when you join eXp. This program allows you to purchase stock shares at a 10% discount with 5% of each of your closed transactions.
The shares you earn with this program will be issued through Shareworks by Morgan Stanley. (Shares purchased before November 2019 are held by Broadridge.)
eXp Dividends
In addition to stock shares, eXp is now offering dividends to shareholders in the company. Dividends are usually paid out in cash out of the excess of the company profit. They are generally paid to shareholders in proportion to how many shares they own in the company.
Currently, shareholders at EXPI earn $0.20 per share in annual dividends. Dividends were last paid on November 15, 2023.
