At eXp Realty, there are four main team split options. When you join the company, you get to choose what kind of team you want to build or be on.
eXp Realty Team Splits Explained
The eXp Realty team split options are explained below.
1. Domestic Team
With a domestic team, you’ll be working with a spouse who is also an eXp agent. You both work together at an 80/20 commission split toward a cap of $16,000—once you reach it, you can both take home 100% of your commissions minus a few miscellaneous transaction fees.
2. Self-Organized Team
A self-organized team is one that you and a few other agents create yourselves. You all work on the same 80/20 commission split with eXp, but the team leader can decide what further split they want to take from your commissions in exchange for the bonuses they provide.
In a self-organized team, you’ll still cap at $16,000. You just get to work with a leader who offers you more benefits than you get with eXp alone. You also get the chance to build that stronger, tighter community.
3. Standard Team
A standard team works more closely under the auspices of eXp Realty than a self-organized team. Although you’ll still work under an 80/20 split with eXp, you’ll get to cap at $8,000 per agent. You do have to pay a minimum 25% split to the team leader in addition to what you pay to eXp in exchange for that lower cap.
4. Mega Icon Team
Mega Icon teams are usually bigger—they need to be made of 10 or more agents to qualify and agents must meet certain production requirements. Each agent still works under an 80/20 split to eXp and must provide a minimum 25% split to the team leader.
However, agents do cap at only $4,000 paid to eXp. This is known as a “quarter cap.”
