Do you know why eXp Realty is the country’s fastest-growing real estate brokerage today? There are several reasons, but the main one is the revenue share program. So today, I’ve compiled the most common questions about the eXp Realty revenue share program and answered them here.
What Is eXp’s Revenue Share Program?
To put it in simple terms, revenue share is a way to reward agents like you who help eXp grow. You receive a commission on other agents’ sales as long as you bring them into the company (become their sponsor). I did a deep dive on revenue share back in September.
How Many Levels or Tiers are In the eXp Realty Revenue Share Plan?
There are seven tiers in the eXp Realty Revenue Share Plan. This means that you can sponsor one agent, and they can go on to sponsor another. Then, that agent can sponsor another, and so on down the line. And YOU will get compensated for up to 7 levels of this sponsorship chain—though in varying percentages depending on the tier.
Do I Have To Bring in New Agents?
Well, no. You don’t have to bring in new agents. But with a revenue share model like this, it seems silly not to. If you sponsor an agent into eXp Realty, you earn a percentage of their commissions until they cap. If you bring in an agent who’s good at producing, you’ll earn thousands more than you would have on your own.
What Is the Actual Earnings Potential?
This will sound like a cop-out, but the reality is that it depends on how much work one puts into sponsoring agents. The more an agent focuses on revenue share, the higher the amount of revenue share earned. Some agents make enough to cover their mortgage payment from revenue share—up to hundreds of thousands of dollars per month! But again, that all depends on how much effort an agent puts into sponsoring agents.
How Long Does It Take To Activate All Seven Tiers?
You have access to all seven tiers instantly. The difference is in the AMOUNT you earn from each tier.
The first hurdle is sponsoring agents, helping them sponsor agents themselves, and repeating that cycle to where you have agents on your seven tiers (all the way up to the seventh level).
This can take agents a few months to accomplish. But in reality, most agents take years to reach their seventh level (if they ever get there).
How Is eXp Realty Revenue Share Calculated?
The split eXp Realty is 80/20. 80% goes to the agent who closes the transaction and 20% goes to the brokerage until the agent caps (which again is at $16,000).
It’s from the 20% that eXp Revenue Share operates. So, eXp pays out half of the 20% back to agents through Revenue Share. Note that this half (10% of the total GCI) is divided among the seven tiers of revenue share compensation…so no sponsoring agent gets 10% of the revenue share.
Who Qualifies for eXp Realty Revenue Share?
Active agents in good standing qualify for revenue share.
Can Part-Time eXp Agents Benefit from Revenue Share?
Absolutely! In fact, with a large enough roster of sponsored agents, an agent could earn more with Revenue Share than by selling homes.
Are There Any Upfront Costs To Join the Revenue Share Program?
To become an eXp agent, you must be a licensed Real Estate Agent. There are fees associated with being an eXp agent, but no additional fees are required to participate in the Revenue Share Program.
Are There Caps or Limits on Revenue Share Earnings?
There are no limits to how much you can earn in revenue share. The more agents you sponsor (or your sponsored agents sponsor), the more revenue share you earn.
How Often Are Revenue Share Payouts Distributed?
Revenue Share payouts are distributed monthly.
What Support and Resources Are Available for Agents to Maximize Revenue Share?
eXp Realty includes a variety of training materials in eXp World (the eXp virtual campus) to help you succeed in growing your revenue share group. Additionally, the agent that sponsors you should be mentoring you (which is why choosing the right sponsoring agent is essential!).
You don’t need to reinvent the wheel when it comes to the support you offer your sponsored agents. But you may have your own ideas, experience, and input that may bring value to your downline.
Why Is Revenue Share Better Than Profit-Sharing?
A few brokerages, most notably Keller Williams, use a profit-sharing model to reward their agents. The thing is, profit-sharing depends on various factors, including expenditures beyond the agents’ control, like rent for office spaces, staff members that they had no say in hiring, and other expenses that reduce the overall profit of a brokerage.
Once a brokerage gets through all those expenses using its share of the commission, it THEN offers money to agents from what’s left. But with revenue share, agents get paid off the top from the revenue earned BEFORE other expenses are paid. So, ultimately, you’ll earn more!
How Long Does an Agent Receive Revenue Share from Their Recruited Agents’ Commissions?
The agent receives a revenue share for as long as both the agent and the recruited agent are active and in good standing with eXp, subject to the yearly revenue cap.
How Is the Revenue Share Percentage Determined for Different Levels of the Downline?
Each tier of the revenue share has its own qualification minimums and its own payout percentage.
Can Agents Use Revenue Share as an Exit Strategy for Financial Freedom Or Retirement from Active Real Estate Sales?
Absolutely! Revenue share is a great way to build a passive income that could be turned into investment income to earn even more money to retire on!
In fact, agents can even earn revenue share from attracting agents outside of the United States.
How Does Revenue Share Incentivize Collaboration and a Win-Win Team Culture Within eXp Realty?
Revenue share incentivizes collaboration because your mentorship bolsters the success of the agents you sponsor into the company. When you help them to do better, you earn more. You make more when you teach them how to help the agents they sponsor to do better. This builds a stronger team, and that culture extends throughout the company.
Does Revenue Share Grow On Its Own as an Agent’s Team Or Downline Expands?
Very much so! While mentoring your agents will undoubtedly help your revenue share grow, you mentor your Front Line, they mentor their Front Line, and so on.
You won’t have to mentor every single agent who is part of your revenue share “group,” but if you focus on mentoring those on your Front Line, you will find them doing better, earning more, sponsoring more agents, etc. And that continues down the line!
Are There Any Vesting Requirements for Agents To Receive Revenue Share, and What are the Conditions for Qualifying?
As long as you are an active agent with eXp Realty, you’ll receive revenue share from other active agents in good standing that you sponsored into the company.
