The Basics of YouTube Real Estate Content

One of the biggest mistakes real estate agents make is creating YouTube videos with topics all over the place! The best way to get traffic is to create videos within a specific niche that people are truly interested in. It’s crucial to pick a niche that people are watching and start creating within that space.

Don’t forget to mix your personality in with your real estate knowledge. You want to be entertaining! No matter how much they may need the knowledge, no one is likely to watch a boring video from a robot. Make the video something that is truly coming from you!

In addition, be sure to provide deep education. You don’t want to ignore the important information that others are ignoring. Add in details that no one else is adding but that are important for people to know.

Getting Started on YouTube

When you’re first starting out, be sure not to get too caught up on the small things. You need to focus on creating the video and you want to start on your own so that when the time comes you can work with your editor with an understanding of how video actually works.

In the beginning, you want to do about 100 videos without a lot of equipment. Once you’ve got all those “crappy” videos out, you’ll know what you like talking about, what your audience is actually watching, and how to create and edit a simple video. THEN, you can start investing time, money, and energy in creating better videos.

No matter what, you need to remain personable. Pretend that the camera is a real person! Speak as if to your friend when you’re speaking to the camera. If you’re too formal, you’re going to mess it up. Keep it casual, keep it simple.

When you get further into the process, try to create a schedule. Do the same couple of types of videos every week and then test out new ideas until you figure out what else people like. The most important thing is to remain CONSISTENT! No matter what, post every week at the same time.

If you want to get more leads from your channel, start doing live streams! Take a trending topic and start talking about it. Find questions from other videos you’ve made (or questions on other channels if you don’t have any yet) and address them in the live stream so that if you have no live questions things still keep going.

A Few Expert YouTube Tips for Agents

Here are a few tips to help you really make your channel stand out.

  • As a YouTuber, you’ll want to make sure you have some good referral partnerships. Find good agents to refer out to and ask the clients who you refer out to let you know how things go and if the agent is worth the referral.
  • Be sure you create some stunning thumbnails! PicMonkey is a great tool to use, and you can also start with Canva if you need something cheaper.
  • Don’t do any CTA until the end of your video. Deliver the information people need and THEN ask them to follow you for more once they know that you can provide them with what they want.
  • Don’t mix YouTube shorts with YouTube’s long videos. If you want to do both, create a different channel for each. For longer videos, make sure they really address the question and you’ll probably want them to be 8 minutes or longer so that people who really want that information can find it. They will pay attention if they need to hear it!

Ultimately, winning at YouTube is all about answering people’s questions in a personable and intelligent manner without worrying too much about keywords and CTAs. Your goal is to provide your audience with valuable information that keeps them coming back again and again.

Remain consistent, share helpful knowledge, and be ready to answer any leads that come in! With these few tricks, you’re going to be well on your way to becoming a real estate YouTube star in no time!
